* ‘대취타/Daechwita’ is a genre of Korean traditional music consisting of military music played by wind and percussion instruments, it also translates to “a great blow”.
**광해/Gwanghae is in reference to Prince Gwanghae, the 15th king of the Joseon dynasty who reigned from 1608–1623. Gwanghae was born the son of a concubine and was not the original successor to the throne. However, by proving his leadership capabilities superior to his older brother's in a battle posed by their father, Gwanghae was eventually installed as Crown Prince.
*** ‘뒤주/Rice bin’ reference is in the history of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910), the tragic story of Crown Prince Sado - who was put to death by being locked in a wooden rice chest by his own father, King Yeongjo. (1694-1776)
*** A ‘선비/scholar’ is a term used to refer to the classical scholars of the Goryeo and Joseon dynasties.
It is also used as a slang term to refer to people who act like know-it-alls and consider themselves superior to others.
