2. ‘얼쑤’ is the short form of ‘얼씨구’, which is an interjection used in Pansori (a traditional Korean genre of musical storytelling) to hype up the crowd.
3. ‘지화자’ is another interjection used in traditional Korean song or dance to hype up the crowd.
4. These are the sounds made by the traditional Korean drum ‘장구/jang-gu’ and sound out one of the most basic rhythms.
5. ‘Face/Off’ is the name of a film produced by the Hong Kong film director John Woo in 1997.
6. A reference to the comic/cartoon character ‘Anpanman’ with the head of ‘Anpan’, a sweet bread roll most commonly filled with red bean paste. When his head is damaged, ‘Uncle Jam’ bakes him a new head which replaces the old one by spinning onto Anpanman’s neck.
